Seabrook Island, South Carolina
|
| |
Seabrook Island, on the South Carolina coast, is unique in that it is totally private and owned by its residents. Access to the island is carefully controlled by a security gate to ensure total privacy for residents and guests. It has a wonderful equestrian centre with miles of trails winding through the lush, semi-tropical vegetation.

Like Kiawah Island (host to the 1991 Ryder Cup) the island is striking and hosts a variety of wildlife. Seabrook spreads across 2,200 acres with well over three miles of unspoiled beach fronting the Atlantic and the pristine banks of the Edisto river. The island has 1,000 permanent residents with luxury homes and villas scattered along the beaches, marshes, lakes and golf courses. Seabrook has quietly transformed itself by investing over $30 million in a spectacular new oceanfront Beach Club pool and outdoor restaurant complex; there is a new Club House to cater for golfers on the championship golf courses – 36 holes in all; and there is a stunning Lake House Community Centre with indoor and outdoor pools, a 6,000 sq ft fitness centre, play area and events lawn.
